FRANKFURT - Sustainability will play a major role at the next edition of Heimtextil, the international trade fair for home and contract textiles, which takes place in Frankfurt from 11 to 14 January 2012
Organised by Messe Frankfurt, the show will operate a number of events and exhibits under the theme ‘Green Exhibition – let it grow’. Day one will host a series of lectures under the Sustainability banner followed on day two by a presentation and discussion under the headline – ‘Green Hospitality – the balance between ecology and economy’, which will explore the current challenges posed by sustainable concepts in the hospitality industry.
Heimtextil will also highlight all suppliers of green products in its GreenDirectory with the latest eco-innovations presented to visitors in the ‘Green Exhibition’. There will also be an eco-trends presentation from The Stijlinstituut Amsterdam.
Trend expert Anne Marie Commandeur said it was important for the show to demonstrate that the variety of available fabrics was increasing. “Sustainable interior textiles are fashionable, modern and innovative!” she said. “Ultimately, when we say ‘Let it grow’, what we are saying is that sustainability is all-embracing.
"Our aim is to present the broadest possible spectrum of products that have been manufactured in accordance with ecological and social criteria. We want to inspire the visitors with the special show, to shake them up and show them what is already possible today in the field of sustainable textiles.”
